Dancers express and communicate with their bodies, artists with their many different mediums, and singers with their voices.

Singing has brought abundant joy to my life, and I enjoy and am grateful for the ease and benefits reaped of years of training and hard work. I want to lead others who are interested on the path to vocal strength, confidence, and freedom. Each voice is as unique as a fingerprint, and I have a passion for helping people harness their unique instrument.

Freedom

There are many mental blocks that can come up when learning how to sing, as well as shame, fears, and insecurities. It’s hard not to be self conscious when your body is your instrument! It is a priority for me to create an encouraging space where students feel safe to try new things and experiment with their voices free of judgment. I have experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults.

Experience

I sang in choir at school as soon as I had the opportunity to. I also competed in Solo & Ensemble competitions. I began taking voice lessons from a classical opera singer at the age of 14, and spent my first year of college as a vocal performance major at Baldwin Wallace College Conservatory of Music outside of Cleveland, Ohio. The following year I transferred to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia to study Musical Theatre Performance. After graduating, I spent several years performing in professional productions in Philly, New Jersey, Delaware, and NYC. My husband and I moved to Jersey City in the fall of 2019. I am currently in the process of building my own band here, as well as recording my first full length album of all original indie folk, pop, and alternative rock music.

Learn

I teach music reading, theory, solfege, ear training, classical technique, musical theatre technique and performance, pop and rock technique and performance, song interpretation, audition prep, vocal health and strengthening, practice skills, songwriting, and overcoming stage fright/mental blocks.

Student Testimonials

“I felt instantly comfortable from the moment our first lesson started. Jenny brings a lot of knowledge, experience, and fun vocal warmups to the table. Jenny provides a welcoming and reassuring environment to confidently release the voice within. I would recommend her to anyone who is trying to find or improve their singing abilities! “

— Stephany S.

“My daughter has been taking voice and piano lessons from Jenny for seven months now. She has also encouraged my daughter’s creative abilities through songwriting. She is a kind and patient teacher while challenging my daughter to always do her best. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Jenny taught my daughter online and it worked out very well. Please do not hesitate to entrust Jenny with your or your children's musical education!”

— Madeline H.

“Jenny taught my daughter for several years.  Jenny’s caring nature and transparency helped us to trust her since day one. My daughter started out extremely shy; however, while working with Jenny, she became more confident of her talent and learned to have a passion for music. Dessy joined the choir at her school and is now in the Performing Arts School Of Philadelphia as a Vocal Major.

Jenny is not only great at teaching vocals, she is also great at building confidence, discipline, and incredible love for music and performing. “

“I wasn’t able to work with Jenny for long as she moved to New York City the summer I had lessons with her. Even though our time together was short, I learned so much not only about Broadway style and classical style vocal training, but also many techniques in the realm of pop. Jenny was also able to help me prepare for an audition I had for the IMTA convention being held this past summer. All of her tips and techniques were very helpful and got me far with my audition! ”
